After reading the story, my students describe a chocolate chip cookie together using the EET strand to help organize their thoughts.

Action Verbs

Action verbs can be fun to teach, and they can also be a great way to work on expanding mean length of utterance or auxiliary-ing endings.

One resource I am obsessed with is Cari Ebert’s Animal Verbs.

It includes 40 visual cue cards to target common action verbs.

These cards could be used with preschool and kindergarten students.

If you’re working on expanding sentence structure, try having your students make a simple sentence (Subject+ Verb) using these illustrated cards.

The illustrations are beautiful, and my younger students absolutely loved them.

We hid them in Ned’s Head, sensory bins, or around the room.

You could also pair them with a magnetic wand and chips, or toss bean bags on them to make the activity more engaging.
