Try searching “(Your state’s name) Learning Standards for English Language Arts”.
For example, here is a link to Ohio’s Learning Standards for English Language Arts.
SLPs may also specifically search for “Speaking and Listening Standards”.
Some standards may include teaching skills such as:
- sentence structure (produce complete spoken sentences)
- use proper nouns
- label possessive nouns
- use plural nouns and verbs in sentences
- verb tense
- use adjectives and some conjunctions

Your students can “build a pizza” while also working on the following skills:
•Regular plurals, sounds like /s/
•Regular plurals, sounds like /z/
•Plural nouns, ends in -ves
•Irregular plurals
•Regular past tense, sounds like /t/
•Regular past tense, sounds like /d/
•Regular past tense, sounds like “id”
•Irregular past tense
•Pronouns: he, she, they
•Pronouns: his, hers, theirs
This is the perfect way to incorporate extra practice of these basic grammar skills.
